PlantTech is a new Regional Research Institute based in the Western Bay of Plenty of New Zealand. Its research focus is artificial intelligence (AI) that is applied in the field (premium crop growing environments) and they are in an exciting growth phase; looking for scientists and senior scientists/engineers who will be able to deliver their research programme and help grow innovation in the region and nation.
Initial research aims of PlantTech include developing (1) a multimodal transfer learning platform specialised to premium crop applications and (2) an integrated multi-sensory ambient awareness and navigational system to operate in crop production environments.
To help PlantTech achieve these aims we are looking for researchers, scientists and engineers with experience of deep learning approaches in machine learning, AI and/or computer vision. You will also be enthusiastic about the application of AI to areas such as precision agriculture, agricultural robotics, plant breeding and horticulture.
Ideally you will also hold a PhD in a related area such as Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Data Science or Bioinformatics and/or an undergraduate qualification with 5+ years’ experience in a related area.
