We are looking for a Geologist QAQC and Sampling for the designing, implementation and supervision of core sampling procedures, design and implementation of analytical procedures used internally and by external labs, monitoring the performance of internal and external analytical work, managing the database of analytical results, and interacting with metallurgical, geotechnical and mining engineering teams to assure appropriate sampling programs are implemented and completed effectively. This role is a critical component of the Project Studies and, as required, includes support to mining engineering work programs, metallurgical studies, and geotechnical characterization. As part of Rio Tinto’s Copper product group; Copper Projects manages the planning, development and technological aspects of major global copper projects. The group collaborates with the Rio Tinto Technology and Innovation group to focus on applications of innovative technologies including block caving, automation, flash converter smelting and sulphide leaching. With exploration indicating one of the largest copper resources ever found in North America, and possibly worldwide; the Resolution Project stands to be a premier copper mine. Located three miles east of Superior, Arizona, the copper ore will be mined using panel caving - a subset of block caving.
