Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in the Cardiovascular Regenerative Engineering (CaRE) Laboratory in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI, USA.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position within the research program of Prof. Brandon Tefft, PhD starting in the summer or fall of 2022 in the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University.  The Fellow will work in the multidisciplinary field of cardiovascular regenerative engineering in a highly translational and team science environment.  The Fellow will be responsible for developing a novel strategy to endothelialize tissue engineered vascular grafts.  These constructs will be assessed in vitro for mechanical and functional properties.  They will also be assessed for biological performance using a large animal model.  Funding for this research project is provided by the National Institutes of Health.  This funding will continue until December 2026 and an extension beyond this time may be possible.  This research will provide significant training in developing and assessing cardiovascular regenerative engineering strategies as well as analyzing scientific data and writing scientific reports.  The Fellow will also gain significant training and experience to establish an independent biomedical research career.

The minimum criteria for the position are enumerated below:

• A Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, or a related scientific field.
• A strong background in regenerative engineering, cardiovascular physiology, cellular and molecular biology, electrospinning, mechanical testing, animal models, and experimental data analysis.
• Excellent communication skills (written/spoken English) and a demonstrable leadership in publishing in peer-reviewed journals and achieving academic excellence.
• Lastly, the applicant should have a keen desire and initiative to learn, and the ability to function as part of a team.
